Set Up A Budget How many times were you told this important factor to having good credit. Many people say they have one, but do they really. And the people that do have a budget don't follow it and adjust it as things change. There are many programs out like Microsoft Money that will help you set up a budget. 2. Monitor Your Credit This is very important because the credit bureaus can make mistakes and items on your credit report could not be yours, but if a potential creditor (computer) sees your credit, it will assume everything on the report is correct. I have the same name as my father and my credit report contained information that I had past due child support in 1982. I was born in 1980 that is definitely not my item. 3. Clean It Up!!! Contact all of the credit bureaus and ask for a copy of your credit report. List all the items that are the oldest and dispute those. Review the results and dispute a few more, no more than three at a time because more gives off a red flag to the credit bureaus. And always be careful of anyone telling you that you can get a bad credit mortgage, because those are usually very expensive in general. Clean your credit up once and for all.
