Are Colleges Safe?

Recently it has come to my attention that Manhattan AreaTechnical College has been having more problems than just lowenrollment.

A student at the college has come to the result of quitting dueto abuse by the student body. The abuse, both physical andemotional, has been somehow oblivious to the college; or atleast not handled properly.

A school is meant as a learning institution and a gateway to ourchildren's future. Why then are so many rights taken away due toother students behavior? Safety is suppose to be paid for whenpaying tuition. However, in more cases than not, our collegeslack the power or even the care to do something about thesesituations.

Not only is abuse a problem in our universities and collegesacross the United States a problem, but so are rapes. A study bythe National Victim Center in 1992 reported that one in fourwomen on college campuses have been raped or suffered attemptedrape.

Our children are at great danger while many colleges, like MATC,are doing nothing about it.
